The new book that will keep you laughing: Jill Kargman's 'Sprinkle Glitter on my Grave'

Updated

Jill Kargman, author, actress and all-around hilarious person, just released a new book that will keep you laughing and make you really think about life -- and she celebrated the release in style.

Sprinkle Glitter on My Grave: Observations, Rants, and Other Uplifting Thoughts About Life is the newest series of essays for Kargman, and it's next up on our list of must-reads. One of the best things about of Bravo's Odd Mom Out (on which Jill plays the title character) is that it's based on her real life experiences both growing up in and raising her children in New York City. Also, it's hilarious. So how could we not want to read more essays and musings from Jill?

Following a successful launch and book signing on the gorgeous shoes department of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, Jill celebrated the book in style when Marc Metrick, President of Saks, hosted a private cocktail party and signing for the new book at the Café SFA and The Terrace.

Jill told us a little bit about the new book, and while she'll keep you laughing, she'll also challenge you take a serious look at life - and what it means to be happy.

"My parents, my brother and I are really morbid," Jill said, "We had a normal, happy childhood, but we're very Addams Family-ish, and our parents were constantly talking to us about death. They toured graveyards the way that normal people tour colleges, and they're so unique and they have such an amazing sense of humor -- and it sort of trickled down to my brother and me."

"I do feel like I'm one of the happiest people that I know," she continued. "People always ask for the 'secret' to that happiness, and I honestly feel like it's because I really believe you can't take it with you, and that's just it. So we blare our music and love our food, and filch the joy out of life."
