Bruce Springsteen plays longest U.S. concert, over 4 hours

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band treated their fans in Philadelphia on Wednesday night to their longest U.S. show in history.

Clocking in at 4 hours and 4 minutes, with 34 songs played, the concert at Citizens Bank Park surpassed the previous record of 4 hours, set at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Aug. 30. Several Springsteen bloggers and fan sites confirmed the record. Wednesday's concert was the second-longest of the band's career, with a 2012 set in Helsinki, Finland, still holding the record at 4:06.

It was a special night for the Philadelphia crowd, who were treated to a set that focused primarily on selections from Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle for the first 10 songs.

After taking two song requests for "The Fever" and "Thundercrack," Springsteen gave a nod to the City of Brotherly Love with a performance of his Academy Award-winning song, "Streets of Philadelphia."
