Davis was away at a meeting when the incident happened. In response to the incident, he said, "to me, it's an obvious case of mental illness. It's a reaffirmation of the tremendous need for additional mental health services in our community."

Davis also said that people frequently come into his office with these kinds of issues and he does what he can to help them. He has even driven people himself to get drug treatment.
