OnlyOnAOL: Inside Kim Kardashian's super-sexy VMAs look

Celebrity hairstylist Michael Silva has known Kim Kardashian for years.
So when he showed up at her NYC dwelling to do her tresses for the VMAs that night, it was business as usual. (See our interview with Kardashian's BFF La La Anthony above).
"Kim is amazing. She's got great taste. She knows how she likes to look. She's open to collaborating. She's so gorgeous that you can't go wrong. She's open to any kind of suggestion or reference. She's so easy. She's not a diva. She's not picky. She wants to look beautiful," says Silva.
This time, he and Kardashian "were inspired by summer, the beach, freshness. We decided to build on that: glistening and fresh and dewy and wet without being wet. That's where we started from. A summer beach vibe," he says.
The hair was loose and looked mussed and unstyled. That's by design.
"The response has been amazing -- that she's never looked better," says Silva.
Here's how he did it.
Apply Kenra Platinum Snail CC Creme to damp hair from mid lengths to ends to prep and prime before layering Kenra Platinum Revive Oil on top to lock-in moisture.
Spray Kenra Platinum Texturizing Mist throughout the hair, working it through with hands, to bring out Kim's natural wave.
Then use the ghd Air Hairdryer with a diffuser attachment and dry hair thoroughly.
After the hair is dry, add texture with the ghd Platinum Styler.
Finish with a touch of Kenra Platinum Silkening Mist and touch the ends with a few more drops of Kenra Platinum Revive Oil.
If you don't have Silva's expertise at your disposal, here's his suggestion:
"It's important to mention that Kim's hair is super-soft and touchable. It's not crispy. If you have naturally wavy hair, use a lot of Kenra platinum revive oil, on both wet and dry hair. That's what achieves the super-high gloss, the touchability and softness."
