To say it's a sad day in the world of comedy is a tremendous understatement.

Star of "Willy Wonka" and countless Mel Brooks comedies Gene Wilder has died at the age of 83. In 1999, the Oscar nominee was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and treated with radiation and stem cell transplants.

Wilder cast a large shadow in the entertainment industry and celebrities took to social media to express their love for the actor.
