A couple in California is hoping to raise $20,000 to help their dog Rexi.

Rexi was diagnosed with a neurological disorder that has caused her forelegs to grow backwards, which makes it impossible for her to walk.

Rexi's owners said she began to limp when he was just ten weeks old. The one-year-old dog has lost all strength in her legs, which now extend behind her head. Her owners ignored a vet's suggestion that they put Rexi down, saying she is like a daughter to them.

Rexi has to drag her chest against the floor in order to move. The owners have tried to use a wheelchair for dogs, but say she falls too often and they don't want to cause her any more pain.

The owners want to use the money for any invention that would help her walk or for surgery, which is very expensive.

So far they have raised more than $17,000 toward their goal. The campaign has generated interest from engineers who have made a machine so she can walk, but the couple says that there are still many tests needed in order to find out more about what she has.
