Woman Arrested After Butt Dialing 911

Police in Washington state arrested a woman after her phone accidentally called dialled 911 while she was discussing illegal activities.

Bremerton Police Chief Steven Strachan wrote about the bizarre incident in his weekly newsletter, saying operators heard a "very angry sounding" woman talking to what appeared to be her boyfriend.

It turns out the unnamed woman's phone had called 911 from her pocket -- and the dispatcher heard everything.

The newsletter says she was heard talking about "scratch tickets and illegal activities," so officers traced the call and took a drive over to her home.

As police entered the house, dispatchers heard her saying that she "won't be going to jail" -- but she was wrong about that. She tried giving the officers a fake name, but they soon learned her actual identity and discovered she had a warrant out for her arrest for trafficking in stolen property.

"The jail takes away inmate's cell phones," Strachan wrote. "So she should be able to avoid this problem, at least for a while."

The lesson to be learned here: lock screens and pass codes are your friend.
