Aside from grimy hotel rooms, your bed is a source of cleanliness, comfort and safety.
Coming home from a long day at work or vacation, all you want to do is climb into your own comfy bed. When your sick, it's where you take naps and recuperate.
However, health experts agree that it's actually what's inside your bed that's making you sick.
A recent CNN article brings to light some of these major issues.
Inside your bed are a plethora of bacteria, allergens and fungi that you breathe in when you sleep. As you snooze, you kick these contaminants up in the air and into your mouth.

1. Dust mite poop
Dust mites eat flakes of shed human skin and other organic detritus. Their feces are the inducers of allergenic reactions.
According to the American Lung Association, four out of five homes 'have at least one bed with dust mites'.
The article says that ridding your home of carpets can help with the issues, especially if you have major allergies.
2. Fungi and Mold
According to research, your bed is a hotbed of these contaminants, which are sometimes 'smaller than the diameter of your hair'.
A certain study found that from 10 pillows, 'collectively had 47 species of fungi'.
An air purifier would help alleviate the existence of mold and fungi.
It's bound to happen, unfortunately. Their saliva, hair and other bodily waste can make you ill.
The solution is frequent vacuuming and purifying your room, including your bed.
