'Saturday Night Live' has new co-head writers: Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly

Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah Depart 'Saturday Night Live' Ahead of Season 42

Live from New York, it's new head writers!

Saturday Night Live just announced that writing supervisors Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly have been promoted – they will be the co-head writers for season 42 of the live comedy show.

The show released the news via Twitter and Facebook.

This announcement follows the news that cast members Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam and Jon Rudnitsky will not be returning to the show this fall.

NBC has not yet commented as to what this means for last season's co-head writers Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker, or whether the show will be hiring anyone to replace Schneider and Kelly.
