4-year-old who lost leg in lawn mower accident recovering at hospital
SALT LAKE CITY (KSTU) -- A 4-year-old American Fork girl who lost a leg in the blades of a lawn mower last week is recovering at Primary Children's Hospital.
On Tuesday, Brailey Partida's parents spoke about the accident for the first time, saying their daughter has more surgeries to undergo and is in a lot of pain.
"Brailey is so tenacious, I mean she is probably helping us get through this more than anyone else, her temper, went, her attitude, is just incredible," said the girl's father Jacob Partida.
On Aug. 1, Brailey was on a riding lawn mower with her grandmother when she fell off, getting caught in the blades. She lost her right leg from the knee down.
Brailey's parents say their daughter understands how serious and life altering her situation is. But she is determined to walk again as soon as possible.
After her surgeries, the family says, Brailey will undergo the rehabilitation process where she will learn how to use a prosthetic leg.
"Every day she asks about building her leg and she will be so happy when she gets her leg, and she does it with a smile, and she's so happy," Jacob Partida said.
