Academy Award-winning actors Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore are attached to star in a potential TV series from American Hustle director David O. Russell.

Though few details are known about the project, our sister site Deadline reports that the drama is rumored to be a '90s-set cop thriller with the potential to run for either multiple seasons or as a limited series. While it is fully expected to earn a series order, it has not yet been pitched to any network or streaming outlet.

A small-screen venture for De Niro wouldn't be entirely unexpected. The Goodfellas actor has already completed production on HBO's Bernie Madoff biopic Wizard of Lies, and he was at one point attached to star in The Night Of (in the role that eventually went to John Turturro). He previously worked with Russell on the feature films Silver Linings Playbook and Joy.

Moore, who got her start on The Young and the Restless, went viral last fall after an appearance on truTV'sBilly On the Street, and will soon reunite with Billy Eichner on an episode of Hulu's Difficult People. She also had a recurring role on 30 Rock.
