Salon offers free back-to-school haircuts for foster families
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) -- Nothing says back to school like a brand new do. On Sunday, several dozen foster children got a free haircut at Oomph Salon.
Leah Wells, the Owner of Oomph Salon, said the Halo Project helps kids start off the year with a little extra confidence.
Barbie Shields has fostered a total of 300 children through the years.
"We have to do back to school shopping, back to school haircuts, back to school supplies so it can really add up quick," Shields said.
With the start of school now right around the corner, Shields said this is one more item off the check list.
This was the first time Oomph Salon put on the event. They plan to donate free haircuts again in September.
