Ringo Starr explains why he voted for Brexit: 'Britain should be out & get back on its own feet'

In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek on Thursday (August 4), Ringo Starr revealed that he voted for Britain to leave the European Union when the "Brexit" vote came up back in June.

"I voted for Brexit, because I thought the European Union was a great idea, but I didn't see it going anywhere lately. It's in shambles and we're all stuck with people who want to make arrangements for their own country and don't think for the other countries," said Starr. "Britain should be out and get back on its own feet."

"Brexit," a term coined for Britain's exit from the EU, was supported by 52 percent of U.K. voters in the referendum held on June 23. "Now Scotland wants to leave and Wales wants to leave. Then it will be Devon. God knows where it will end," Starr said.
