Ex-teacher who got pregnant by 13-year-old student remains free after violating bond
HOUSTON (KIAH) — A former middle school teacher accused of having sex with a student will remain free after she admitted to breaking a mandated curfew.
Prosecutors said Alexandria Vera, 24, became pregnant in June after having sex with a 13-year-old student enrolled in Aldine Independent School District. Investigators said she later aborted the pregnancy. Vera turned herself in for the alleged sexual relationship in June and has since been out on a $100,000 bond under strict regulations.
Vera appeared in court Wednesday after prosecutors said she broke her curfew July 26 around 8 p.m. and was exercising near a school.

The ex-teacher said she was stuck in traffic for about 45 minutes, which is why she wasn't home in time.
Prosecutors wanted the judge to revoke Vera's bond, but he didn't and instead gave her a good scolding.
Other restrictions include wearing a GPS ankle monitor at all times, staying away from schools, and limiting her internet usage. The court also ordered Vera to stay away from the teenage student who allegedly got her pregnant.
If convicted of continuous sexual assault of a child, Vera will face 25 years to life in prison.
