In a recent profile for Vogue Magazine, 2015 WNBA MVP and current Olympian Elena Delle Donne officially came out as a gay athlete.

Jim Buzinski, a co-founder and the current manager of SB Nation's Outsports blog, was told by Chicago Tribune reporter Phil Thompson about Delle Donne's upcoming profile and provided a quote from the interview (Delle Donne was the No. 2 pick of the Chicago Sky in the 2013 WNBA Draft).

Elena divides her time between traveling with her team, the Chicago Sky, and her family's home in the rolling green landscape of Wilmington, Delaware. She and her fiancee, Amanda Clifton, keep apartments in both Chicago and Wilmington.

The profile on Delle Donne isn't available online, but that's fantastic news for her and likely a sigh of relief to make her sexuality known. Delle Donne has publicly voiced for other athletes that have come out, including the top pick of that 2013 WNBA Draft, Brittney Griner.

With Delle Donne making her sexuality public, it's a good day for athletes (especially superstar athletes like Delle Donne and Griner are) to be comfortable with who they really are.

Although Delle Donne didn't just come out and say that she's gay, she made it clear with just a simple note of her engagement. It's not about attention. It's about being content with who she really is, and that's awesome to see.

Delle Donne will make her first appearance with the United States' women's basketball team in Rio starting this weekend. The U.S. kick off their gold medal defense in Rio on Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. ET against Senegal.
