Starbucks has announced a recall of their stainless steel straws. The US Consumer Report Safety Commission reported that the straws are "rigid and can poke children in the mouth, posing a risk of injury."

From June 2012 through June 2016, Starbucks sold reusable "Cold-to-Go" drinking straws in two sizes to go along with their reusable stainless steel cups. The straw sets were sold both in Starbucks stores and online at around $6.

About 2.5 million of the cups with these risky straws have been sold in the United States, and about 300,000 more in Canada.

Starbucks is reporting that parents should not allow children to use the straws as they can result in cuts in their mouths.
