Woman Says She Saw Driver Throwing Kittens Out Window

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- Stacy Rock said she couldn't believe her eyes Sunday morning while driving on Interstate 40 and saw three kittens being thrown out of a minivan.

She was headed east towards Hanes Mall Boulevard but noticed the kittens being thrown out of the silver vehicle between exits 188 and 192.

Immediately she called a friend who called Winston-Salem police.

"It could have caused an accident so it just wasn't about the kittens it was about they could have lost control on the highway," Rock said. "This was just like tossing trash out the window, they were no better than trash and it broke my heart."

Without a full license tag number Rock said officers have been unsuccessful in finding the owners.

Animal Control officer Lt. D. Morris said the action is definitely worthy of a felony charge.

"In this day and time there's no reason to throw kittens and cats out a window or leave a box in a neighborhood, the shelter's happy to take them," Morris said. "That's what we're here for."
