Disneyland recently announced that it will be ditching one of its most tenured rides -- the infamous Tower of Terror.

The "Twilight Zone"-themed ride, which takes guests thought the "haunted" Hollywood Tower Hotel before dropping them down an elevator shaft, will be revamped into a "Guardians of the Galaxy" experience next summer, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced Saturday at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Due to the iconic nature of the ride, Disney fanatics are, understandably, none too pleased about the change -- and they're certainly not holding back their frustrations on social media.

"There's a lovely land called Tomorrowland that's in need of attention, I think an attraction from Guardians of the Galaxy would be far more appropriate there," said one man on Facebook. "Tower of Terror is far more appropriate for a theme park inspired by California than an unrelated space story."

"You are about to enter a world. A world where creativity and innovation give way to cheap Hollywood rebranding," joked another, in a parody of the Twilight Zone's famous theme. "Where classic themes are abandoned in favor of the latest fad. You are about to buy a one way ticket to....... The Disappointment Zone."

"Destroying the best ride in all of Disneyland resort for NO reason. Guardians isn't even popular anymore and TOT is arguably already the most popular ride in the park," complained a third.

Surprisingly enough, the internet isn't the only place fans have taken out their frustrations about the ride's revamping -- audience members reportedly booed at the concept image presented at Comic-Con.

The last chance for Disney enthusiasts to plummet 13 stories down the haunted elevator shaft will be early 2017, according to the Disney Parks blog.

After that, Disney lovers and thrill seekers alike will have to make the trek to the park's Florida location if they wish to travel beyond the fifth dimension.
