On Sunday, a 3-year-old child left in a hot car parked outside a Dallas church passed away, notes KDFW.

The family was participating in an afternoon service at the Rehoboth Praise Assembly; however, they were seated in separate groups.

After about 45 minutes, the parents became aware the young boy was not with their four other children in the kids' room.

The father rushed outside and pulled the unresponsive child from the car, reports KXAS.

Subsequently, he ran back into the building, asking for someone to call for help. The 3-year-old was taken to an area hospital, but pronounced dead after arriving.

Police have questioned churchgoers and inspected the vehicle. The investigation into the child's passing is ongoing, notes KTVT.
