Muncie woman builds 'blessings box' to help the needy
MUNCIE, Ind.(WTTV) - Jeannetta Presley just wanted to do something nice for the people who live around her Muncie neighborhood.
Too often, she sees families and kids nearby who have little, and need some help. So last week, Presley decided to put a "blessings box" in her front yard after seeing the story about one on Facebook. The box has toiletries and non-perishable food inside; on the outside, a sign reads: "Take what you need, give back what you can."
"I thought I could do it for my community," said Presley.

Since the box debuted, word has spread quickly. She says lots of people have been coming by to take food, but many more have stopped to donate items--so much so, she's having to store some of the extra food in her house.
"I'm hoping that my neighborhood figures out that its here, and that they utilize it, and come and get what they need," said Presley.
She's hoping more people will spread the idea around Muncie and that others will be inspired to start their own "blessings box."
"I think we need one in every neighborhood, to be honest," said Casie Bright, who lives nearby, "I think that would be a good thing."
