If you, like us, find yourself waiting with bated breath for the couture shows in January and July, you love the elaborate, ornate, hand-made creations that go down the runway. And chances are you're also one to keep your eye trained on red carpet to see how the stars bring those gorgeous gowns to life.
If there's one thing we know, there are a few choice designers whose creations wind up all over the red carpet -- and for good reason. Below, the five shows we think you need to see from this season's Paris haute couture week.
Valentino
Hot off the heels of the announcement that designer Maria Grazia Chiuri is leaving Valentino -- to become creative director of Dior -- the Maison Valentino show took our breath away.
Christian Dior
The new couture collection -- which we are sure to see on Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman -- brings elegance to daytime in black and white, with plenty of red carpet-worthy looks, of course.

This brilliant man blows us away with what he creates, time and time again. His couture show is always the one we feel most giddy to see, like we're back in grade school.
