When Jennifer Kiss-Engele's 8-year-old son Sawyer didn't get invited to his classmate's birthday party she had a strong feeling it was because he has Down syndrome. So she took to social media to share how hurtful the other parent's snub was.

"The only reason why you decided it was OK to not invite my son to your child's birthday party is because he has Down Syndrome," Kiss-Engele wrote on Facebook. "I am sorry that you are not informed, maybe scared, or uncertain about what it means to have Down Syndrome."

Before she posted the letter on Facebook she sent it directly to the parent, who in turn sent a special invitation to Sawyer.

Kiss-Engele's compassionate post has been shared nearly 8,000 times since the incident occurred.
