8-Year-Old Calls 911 After Parents' Murder-Suicide

AUSTIN, TEXAS - (KTLA) - An 8-year-old boy called 911 after finding his mother and father dead in a home near Austin, Texas, on Sunday afternoon in a suspected murder-suicide, police said.

The child was inside the residence when his father allegedly stabbed his mother to death before fatally shooting himself, television station reported, citing the Pflugerville Police Department. The bodies were discovered just before 12:30 p.m.

"We received a 911 phone call from a child who resides in the home, advising that his mom and dad were not moving and there was blood," police Lt. Laura Wilkes told KXAN.

The boy's mother, identified as 39-year-old La Kiesha Nicole Glass, was discovered on a stairwell inside the front door with multiple stab wounds, according to a news releasefrom the Police Department.

A deceased man was found in a vehicle in the garage with a single gunshot wound, the release stated. He was identified by police as 41-year-old Saldin McIntosh.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was a murder/suicide," police said in the release.

The child told investigators his parents had been fighting the previous night, according to the release. His mother had asked him to call 911, but his father prevented him from dialing the number.

An official cause of death for the deceased couple was not immediately provided.

"It's a shame, I mean I'm sorry to see the poor kid have to go through this," said neighbor Troy Brucken, describing him as a "lovely little boy."

The child was temporarily placed in the custody of Child Protective Services until his relatives arrived from out of state.
