11-Year-Old Female Camper Dies After Tree Struck by Lightning Falls on Cabin

Jadyn Larky, a pre-teen from a Columbus, Ohio suburb had just begun her time at Camp Livingston, one of the oldest active Jewish summer camps in the nation when a storm swept through the camp located in Bennington, Indiana, reports WAVE.

After midnight on Tuesday morning, a bolt of lightning struck a tree next to Jadyn's cabin, causing it to fall on top of the cabin.

Jadyn's camp counselors and fellow campers, three adults and a group of children, were able to escape the scene unharmed, but Jadyn was seriously injured by the tree crash. Rescue crews were called to the scene, but could do nothing to save her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a Facebook post, the camp noted that they would have resources and professionals at camp to help people deal with the tragedy.
