Parents of boy killed by an alligator release heartbreaking statement one day after their son was found

Alligator Victim's Family Asks for Privacy

It's been one day since officials announced they had recovered the body of 2-year-old Lane Graves, the young boy who was snatched away by an alligator at Disney World's Seven Seas Lagoon in Orlando, Fla.

Now, the boy's parents, Melissa and Matt Graves, have released the following statement.

"Words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. We are devastated and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time. To all of the local authorities and staff who worked tirelessly these past 24 hours, we express our deepest gratitude," the family said in a statement.

The family was on vacation with their three kids.
