NORTH PORT, Fla. — Normally it's not a good sign when the police show up to your party, but for Daniel Nicastro, it made his whole birthday.

None of his invited guests came to his eighth birthday party -- something his parents said is not uncommon.

Making friends is often difficult for Daniel, who has autism.

His parents invited the police to the party because Daniel considers them superheroes.

They hoped maybe one or two officers would make an appearance, but instead an entire assembly arrive with gifts.

They were hoping a few officers would show up, but instead, an assembly of officers arrived, even bringing gifts.

Police Sgt. Paul Neugebauer told AP they wanted to attend and let Daniel know that he's appreciated.

A photo of Daniel and the officers is going viral.
