The sushi donut has arrived and it's a thing of beauty

While the sushi burger had us weak at the knees for awhile, there's a new hybrid in town that has us trolling Instagram in search of visual eye candy.

The latest star? The sushi donut, which is every bit as magical as it sounds.

Taking inspiration from the donuts circular shape, the sushi version swaps out the dough for rice, making it more of a savory gem than an after-meal snack.

Created by Melbourne-based Instagram user @sobeautifullyraw, the first concoction of its type is made in fewer steps than one would think.

"Simply grease a donut mould with coconut oil, mould in cooled sushi rice and then gently remove by lifting the pan upside down. Decorated with black sesame, ginger, wasabi, cashew Mayo & avocado," her captions reads.
