TV Land is again expressing an early sign of faith in Younger.

Months ahead of its September season three premiere, the Viacom-owned cable network has renewed the Sutton Foster comedy from exec producer Darren Star.

The renewal comes as production on season three is set to begin this week in New York and after season two of the single-camera comedy posted gains from its freshman run. The sophomore outing posted double-digit gains — up 67 percent among adults 25-54, 63 percent among adults 18-49 and more. TV Land also noted that VOD orders tripled from the season two premiere to its finale.

"The show is a force in and of itself, so it's a no-brainer to renew it again," TV Land exec vp development and original programming Keith Cox said. "Critics and fans love it, and I know Darren and the entire cast and crew behind 'Younger' will continue to deliver at the top of their game."

This marks the second early renewal for Younger. TV Land picked up season three in January, a week before its sophomore outing debuted. Season three premieres Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. following the second season of Impastor, which was pushed back from its summer bow to pair with the cabler's biggest hit.

Younger marked TV Land's first single-camera comedy and first to film in New York as part of the cabler's push to reinvent itself as a younger-skewing network following multicam originals like Hot in Cleveland. It anchors a roster of single-camera fare including recently renewed Lopez, Teachers, Impastor, The Jim Gaffigan Show and more. TV Land also recently greenlighted Melissa McCarthy/Ben Falcone-produced Groundlings comedy Nobodies, which marked the latest single-camera comedy for the cabler. On the pilot stage, TV Land still has its First Wives Clubreboot and a Kyle Richards comedy still in contention and is developing a new take on Heathers.

Younger hails from Jax Media and exec producers Tony Hernandez as well as writer/EPs Dottie Zicklin and Eric Zicklin.
