Anderson Cooper did not hold back while interviewing Florida attorney general Pam Bondi on Tuesday.

The CNN anchor and Bondi were talking about the Orlando shooting, when Cooper said that many people in the LGBT community he talked to said they thought Bondi was a "hypocrite."

Cooper said that Bondi has "gone after gay people" by fighting against same-sex marriage in Florida.

"Do you really think that you're a champion of the gay community?" he asked her. When Bondi defended herself as arguing for the Florida Constitution, Cooper continued to press her, saying she accused gay people of doing harm to the state of Florida.

Then, he switched tactics. Cooper brought up the hotline Bondi's been talking about that allows spouses and family members of the shooting victims to get information. "Had there been no same sex marriage, you do realize that there would be no spouses, that boyfriends and girlfriends of the dead would not be able to get information and would not be able to probably visit them in the hospital here?" he asked.

"Isn't there a sick irony that you were fighting for years that very idea?" he said. Bondi continued to talk about defending the constitution and said "Today is about victims."

"It's about gay and lesbian victims," Cooper clarified. He added, "I'm just wondering if it's hypocritical to portray yourself as a champion of the gay community -- when [...] they don't see you as that."

Bondi said she is not trying to say she's a champion, that she's just trying to help the family members of the deceased.

"I have never seen you talk about gays and lesbians and transgender people in a positive way until now," said Cooper.
