Shocking Video Shows Museum Worker Taken Hostage

Horrifying new video shows a female employee at an Oregon museum being taken hostage.

The cell phone video, taken at the High Desert Museum, was released by police.

In the video, 39-year-old Amanda Berry is heard begging for her life. She pleads, "please let go, you don't have to do this." The man is also heard threatening to kill the woman.

Visitors at the museum stand by, helplessly, as the man puts her in a chokehold and attempts to drag her to the back exit.

One bystander can be heard on the video saying "he's gonna hurt her."

Terrified visitors managed to convince Berry's captor to release her as police arrive at the scene.

An officer encounters the man who they say was armed with a knife, shooting him dead.

The man has been identified as 36-year-old Nicholas Berger, who was at the museum's gift shop before coming after Berry.

After the incident, the museum released a statement thanking emergency responders and the outpouring of community support.

Investigators still aren't sure what caused the confrontation, as the pair had no prior relationship.
