June is LGBT Pride Month, which honors lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history in the U.S. Of course, every year, corporations try to get in on the action by slapping some rainbows on their usual products, and this year, the NBA decided to join the fun.

In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, the NBA announced special pride-themed team T-shirts, as part of a partnership with LGBT-advocacy group GLSEN.

It didn't take long for hateful, anti-gay trolls to see the post and start calling for boycotts.

With that kind of hate, maybe it's not so surprising that there's only been one openly gay NBA player in the league's history. In fact, aside from soccer player Robbie Rogers, there's not a single openly gay active player in any major league sport right now.

But the response to the NBA's pride-themed shirts wasn't all homophobic hate — plenty of people stepped in to point out that no one is forcing anyone else to buy and wear the T-shirts.
