Dan Aykroyd Gushes Over Leslie Jones & New 'Ghostbusters' Cast: They're 'Brilliant Stars'

It's clear who ya gonna call for a good time! On Wednesday night, Jimmy Kimmel Live gave Ghostbusters fans a real treat when the original cast of the 1984 film – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts -- and the new all-female cast of the upcoming revival – Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon -- joined forces to talk about the upcoming movie.

The OG GB's hit the stage dancing to – what else? – the iconic Ghostbusters theme song, which was played by a live band headed up by original singer Ray Parker Jr.

But comedy legend Murray took it a step further, literally leaping for joy as the song played. He grabbed SNL alum Wiig and together the pair jumped up and down like two head bangers at a rock concert. Murray didn't let his infectious enthusiasm stop there. He managed to wrangle in McCarthy and McKinnon to continue the dance session at the other stars also boogied around the stage.

Later in the evening the two casts had a joint interview in which the original stars couldn't stop gushing about the remake.

"It was only because I knew these girls were funny," Murray said of why he agreed to join this reboot. "They just, there is no quit in these girls. This is a tough movie to pull off because it's a big concept, there's a lot on the plate, there's a lot of expectation."

The seasoned funnyman wasn't afraid to be candid about his reaction to the film, saying, "When you see the film -- and you'll delight in the film -- it sort of rumbles along in the beginning. And you're going, 'Oh, God, are they going to pull this thing off?'"

Thankfully, the ladies did manage to meet Murray's expectations. The original cast saw the film for the first time this week, and Murray said, "[We] were screaming, cheering like we were at a sporting event."

ET caught up with the cast earlier in the week at the Elle Women in Comedy event where Aykroyd had nothing but kind words for the next generation of ghost-fighting comedians.

"We respect the talent so much that for me, [it's] thrilling," he told ET's Cameron Mathison.

Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
