4 ingredient chocolate chip peanut butter cookies

How to Make a Peanut Butter-Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

Now that my daughter is getting older, she loves to help in the kitchen.

And by helping I do mean sticking her fingers into everything she possibly can.

We bought a learning tower for her a few months ago and she loves it! We've been making a lot of muffins and cookies together ever since.

And I've been cleaning the kitchen. All. the. time.

Since she's having so much fun I figured I'd be OK with a little extra cleaning. But I've definitely been picking the simple recipes with a small amount of ingredients.

Think about it: Every additional ingredient can potentially be ALL over the cabinets and floor.

I was really intrigued when I saw a recipe for THREE ingredient peanut butter cookies. But because I can't ever leave anything alone, we added chocolate chips and made them into 4 ingredient cookies!

Wait, let me rephrase that: I added the chocolate chips. Em picked them back out of the raw cookie dough and ate them.

Easy soft 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies get an update with a fourth ingredient - chocolate chips! Flourless and simple, the best recipe you can make with your kids! Get the FREE kid-friendly printable recipe now.

Step 1 – Gather Your Ingredients

Ingredients for 4 Ingredient Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies

This step is really simple – just 4 ingredients! You will need:

  • 1 cup (280g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup (200g) white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup (100g) chocolate chips (I used mini chips)

Step 2 – Make the Cookie Dough

Add the peanut butter, sugar and egg to a mixer and cream together until a smooth cookie dough forms.

Add the chocolate chips and mix them in for 5-10 seconds, or until they're evenly distributed throughout the dough.

You don't need to use a stand mixer for this, a hand mixer like this one (or even a wooden spoon and arm power) will be enough.

Step 3 – Shape and Bake the Cookies

These 4 ingredient peanut butter cookies are a quick and easy way to enjoy homemade cookies! Just mix, shape and bake - no chilling required!

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silpat mat (I LOVE mine!).

Scoop out the dough with a cookie scoop (this is one of the most used tools in my kitchen!) and hand the cookies to your kids. They can arrange them on the cookie sheet. If you don't trust them with chocolate chips, better do it yourself.

Criss-cross the cookies with the back of a fork. I try not to push down too much, because I like the cookies thick and soft!

Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes (they will still feel soft). Allow them to cool completely on the cookie sheet before storing in an airtight container.

Step 4 – Eat and Enjoy!

You won't find another recipe this easy for chocolate chip peanut butter cookies! Just 4 ingredients, mix, shape and bake! With free printable for kids!

Both my daughter and my husband LOVED these cookies. We don't let Em have a lot of sugar, but as a small treat these cookies are really nice.

Bonus: Making them together is such a fun activity!

And we've been enjoying making cookies so much! We made some pretty amazing chocolate chip cookies.

Kid arranging chocolate chip cookie dough.

And we also made my dark chocolate hazelnut cookies, but instead of adding hazelnuts we added dark and white chocolate chips. Next on our list are oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!

These super easy chocolate chip peanut butter cookies are one of our favorite recipes though! I measure out the ingredients and Em adds them to the bowl all by herself.

Then she helps mixing the dough and arranges the cookie balls on the cookie sheet. And she is having such a blast – I always love to see her excitement!

If you're looking for an easy way to spend time with your kids AND have delicious cookies to eat WITHOUT having to spring-clean the entire kitchen – this is the recipe you need to try!

If your kids are a little older they can even measure out the ingredients themselves!

I made a printable recipe, there's words (for mom) and picture instructions (for kids!). Em probably doesn't get them yet, but I like to pretend she's this uber genius toddler.

Don't we all?
