Yet another huge downside of the world's unholiest holey footwear has been discovered, this one extending much deeper than just superficial looks.

While Crocs, America's favorite plastic shoes, are often praised for their ease and comfort, they apparently aren't suitable for "everyday use," Megan Leahy, a podiatrist at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, told the Huffington Post.

She said that although the clogs offer "nice" arch support, they are seriously lacking in another crucial area: heel support.

"These shoes do not adequately secure the heel," Leahy stated. "When the heel is unstable, toes tend to grip which can lead to tendinitis, worsening of toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses."

But this doesn't just apply to Crocs. "The same thing can happen with flip flops or any backless shoes as the heel is not secured," Leahy told HuffPost.

So while Crocs may be comfortable and sandals might be stylish, it might be wise to think twice when it comes to choosing your footwear this summer.
