Saving money — and the environment — at CVS is about to get a little easier.

The pharmacy chain will soon give you the option to receive all coupons as well as your receipts by email.

CVS receipts generally contain multiple coupons that are printed beneath the receipt information, resulting in a piece of paper that can be a couple of feet long. CVS has been mocked for this, including by comedian Jimmy Kimmel on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The new option for digital receipts will start rolling out in June, CVS reports. It will be available to members of the CVS loyalty program, called ExtraCare Rewards.

CVS president Helena Foulkes, who first announced the news on Kimmel's show, explains:

"We heard loud and clear that while our customers love receiving coupons and special offers, many wanted a paperless option."

If you aren't already an ExtraCare member, you'll be able to "complete a simple, one-time opt-in process in store that includes enrolling in the ExtraCare Rewards program if they are not already a member, and providing a valid email address," according to CVS. (You can also sign up online.)

Then, for all your future purchases, receipts and the accompanying coupons and rewards will automatically be emailed to you.

From there, you can choose for the coupons to be sent to your ExtraCare card, so you won't have to fuss with cutting out paper coupons or worry about losing them. Sending them to your card means the cashier will be able to apply them to your purchase.

To save even more money at CVS, check out reputable online marketplaces such as Cardpool and Raise that offer discounted gift cards. I have bought several CVS gift cards on Raise for as much as 15 percent off their face value. So I save an additional 15 percent on anything I purchase with such cards.
