10 top budget-friendly cities to visit this summer
It's cliche, but it's cheap — at least this summer: the Las Vegas vacation.
Sin City earned the No. 1 spot overall in WalletHub's recent ranking of the 80 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S.
The financial website analyzed the metros based on 30 metrics "to identify the most wallet-friendly and Instagram-worthy summer destinations."
The 10 metro areas that came out on top are:
Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nevada
Salt Lake City
Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida
Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California
Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, Georgia
Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas
Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin, South Carolina
Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina
Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, Texas
Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade, California
The Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise area earned a total score of 73.56 out of 100. For comparison, the No. 80-ranked area of Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Connecticut, earned a total score of 36.62.
If price is paramount for you, though, consider the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area, which ranked No. 6 overall but ranked No. 1 based on travel costs. Similarly, Oklahoma City ranked No. 15 overall but No. 1 based on local costs.
