On Saturday, at the Nevada Democratic Party's state convention tension escalated between supporters of Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton as many Sanders supporters were disqualified from serving as delegates to the Democratic National Convention in July.

Sanders supporters reportedly violently clashed with Clinton supporters, prompting backlash against Sanders on social media.

#BernieLostMe began trending Wednesday as voters responded to the violence in Nevada as well as other issues.

While some tweets appear to be sent from longtime Sanders supporters who are now considering other options and some were from supporters of his of opponent Hillary Clinton, both camps share the same sentiment of disappointment with Sen. Sanders' campaign.

Sanders released a statement following the chaos in Nevada:

"Within the last few days there have been a number of criticisms made against my campaign organization. Party leaders in Nevada, for example, claim that the Sanders campaign has a 'penchant for violence.' That is nonsense," Sanders said.

"Our campaign of course believes in non-violent change and it goes without saying that I condemn any and all forms of violence, including the personal harassment of individuals."
