Kate Middleton wore a perfect-for-the-office outfit this morning

Updated

If you clock in at a buttoned-up corporate office every morning, please make sure you're paying attention to Kate Middleton. Her personal style and role as a working royal mean that she's a pro at wearing trend-driven, tailored outfits that remain appropriate for reserved workplaces where being more buttoned up is the norm. For an appearance in London this morning she paired a long-sleeve white blouse with a full, below-the-knee skirt from Banana Republic, and, hello, it was perfect.

Her Goat top has the same fresh, polished feel of a classic button-down, but with a more feminine vibe. The voluminous sleeves, cinched with cuffed wrists, seem to be a favorite of the Duchess—the silhouette is similar to the Reiss blouse she wore when she guest-edited Huffington Post U.K. Much like its tailored cousin, the style would work with anything in your closet (can you imagine how good it would look with relaxed jeans and flat sandals?), but we love that Kate decided to mix things up for work. Instead of pairing with a reliably chic pencil skirt, she reached for the wider midi.

Her Banana Republic skirt is sadly sold out, but there are plenty of similarly bold versions up for grabs now. If you're hesitant to bring a strong print into your office environment, go for the same shape, but in a solid hue. Let it be your biggest statement piece by keeping your shoes basic. Kate's pumps are the same Rupert Sanderson pair she wore to greet Michelle Obama last month.
