Scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, captured footage of an unusual and stunning sight during a recent dive.

The agency revealed on its Okeanos Explorer site that the expedition team had "a rare encounter with a swimming dandelion siphonophore."

The accompanying video shows the entity with translucent, tube-like structures and an overall bright orange glow.

The exploration team notes that the marine creature is actually a colonial animal which means it is composed of many organisms that work together for food and reproduction.

The sighting occurred at Farallon de Medinilla in the Northern Mariana Islands. The dive is part of a NOAA project to learn more about the area's deepwater environment.
