The ultimate Kentucky Derby cocktail: The Lookout Mint Julep

The Kentucky Derby begins this weekend -- and there's a few things you need if you're going to celebrate the race in style.

First, an amazing hat (we love this one from Echo), a perfectly preppy outfit, and a cocktail in your hand. And if there's a drink synonymous with the Kentucky Derby, it's the Mint Julep. Right now, we're loving this twist on the classic drink -- the 1893 Lookout Mint Julep Remix.

Inspired by the winner of the Derby in 1893, Lookout, the new premium soda from Pepsi is a delish mixer for your race day cocktail. See below for the recipe.

Ingredients

4 oz. 1893 Ginger
1 1/4 oz. Rye Whiskey
Mint, muddled

Directions

Muddle mint and whiskey in a rocks glass. Add crushed ice and top with cola. Stir and garnish with additional mint.

So go on, get mixing, and enjoy the perfect drink while you watch -- because who knows, we might have yet another Triple Crown this year. And if that happens, you do not want to miss the first race.
