Jessica Chastain is one of those classic Hollywood beauties who seems like she doesn't need any makeup at all to look gorgeous on the red carpet. But the application of just the right amount, in the dreamiest shades and hues to compliment a stunning gown resulted in her major beauty moment on Monday's Met Gala red carpet.

We got to chat with Jessica's makeup artist, Jeanine Lobell, on what products she used and how she designed the look. Read on for a full breakdown of how to get this gorgeous look for yourself.

Step 1. Prep

Jessica's flawless skin didn't need much prep work, but Jeanine told us she uses two products on almost all of her clients: Crème de la Mer (she's used it for 20 years and did nothing but sing its praises) -- which can essentially take the place of a primer -- and the Bliss Fabulips Lip-Perfecting System.

Step 2. Foundation

Since Jeanine wouldn't be able to be there for any touch-ups, she went with a matte shade. "Anything with a luminescence in it can make you look oily, so I used NARS Velvet Match in Terre Neuve, which a nice matte formula that's not thick or heavy -- which is unusual." She also waited to use powder or concealer until she did eye makeup to keep it fresh.

Step 3. Eyes

For her eye makeup, Jeanine wanted to keep the look very clean. "I used a NARS Duo called Tokyo all over her lid and up to her brow, it's a neutral beige with a dove gray tint, to mirror the cool tone of the dress and lip." She then used the duo's other shade, a gorgeous mauve, to accent the eye in the crease.

For eyeliner, Jeanine used NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley. "I painted the liner as if it were a cat eye, but without a flip at the end. So we took it from skinny to a little bit thicker, but I just let it taper into the lashline because I wanted the definition, but we weren't going for a retro look." She finished the look with a healthy application of NARS Audacious Mascara on her top lashes to give her that full lash look.

"For her eyebrows, I just used a little of the clear brow gel to keep them in place."

Step 4. Conceal and set

After Jessica's eyes were done, Jeanine applied concealer. "She didn't need much! But I used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. Then I set the whole look with a white and light beige face powder [NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder and NARS 'All Day' Luminous Powder Foundation]."

Jeanine also sent Jessica with the white setting powder because -- get this -- while you might be afraid to use too much white powder on your face, it actually stays fresher than other shades that can cake up if you're not careful.

Step 5. Lips and blush

"We decided on an insanely gorgeous raspberry lip — NARS Audacious Lipstick in Vera — and I applied it before the cheek color because I didn't want the cheeks to look sweet. Once her lips were done I could determine how much blush to use. We went with a beige rose tone, NARS Blush in Impassioned, which looks more pink on her fair skin."
