Stagecoach Day 2: Carrie Underwood goes without shoes, Stapleton ditches his hat and Fogerty slays it

Updated

The gusting winds out in Indio, California, didn't dampen anyone's spirits at Day 2 of Stagecoach -- in fact it kicks things up a blustering notch.

Carrie Underwood headlined Day 2 of the country music festival -- and in totally un-Underwood fashion, the pint-sized powerhouse kicked off her shoes. She yelled to the crowd of 75,000+, "I'm gonna do something I said I'd never do onstage. I feel like these shoes are keeping me from getting down, and I want to get down," Next, she ditched her signature spiked heels and announced, "My feet are gonna be nasty after this!"

Well, her toes may have been horrible after, but her set brought down the house. She belted out her big hits like, "Undo It," "Church Bells," and "I Did Something Bad," as the rowdy crowd cheered on. Later, the former "American Idol" covered "I Will Always Love You" -- and nailed it in her typical fashion.

Covers were definitely a big hit on Saturday at the festival with country newcomers like Jamestown Revival and Brett Young both opting to add covers to their set. Texas-bred Revival tossed in Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings" and Big Machine's big newcomer Young sent the ladies swooning with his rendition of "Let's Get It On."

Later, The Band Perry tossed in Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" in their set and Chris Stapleton, who is continuing to wow country audiences everywhere, added his favorite Waylon Jennings song, "I Ain't Living Long Like This."

While John Fogerty steered clear of covers, he definitely proved he's still got his powerhouse vocals over at the second-stage. Fogerty snagged a huge number of people from the Mane Stage over to the smaller venue and got them jamming to his CCR hits, "Fortunate Son," "Born on the Bayou," "Bad Moon Rising," "Up Around the Bend," and "Proud Mary." The 70-year-old even came back for a nearly 15-minute encore well after his set was supposed to close.

Off the stage, fans were kicking back with their favorite superstars at one of the many cool booths and bars. The Budweiser Country Club was definitely a hotspot with musicians and fans alike stopping by to cool down with a full-flavored lager.

It was a wild, crazy, gusty day of completely awesome performances.
