Boyfriend Says He Received Mysterious Text After Pregnant Girlfriend's Disappearance

DOVER, Ohio (WJW) -- The Dover Police Department, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the FBI are looking for a missing pregnant woman.

Patrona Laynez Raymundo, 22, was last seen leaving her home on North Tuscarawas Avenue at 8 a.m. Monday wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and green leggings.

Her boyfriend told police she was going for a walk, possibly to the store.

Monday night around 6 p.m. the boyfriend called police after receiving a strange text message from a person claiming to have Raymundo.

Dover Police Cpt. Chad Mowrer says, the text message was typed in "choppy Spanish" and difficult to translate.

"At first we believed it was a ransom message," said Cpt. Mowrer. "But now it sounds

more in the context of 'you'll pay for what you've done'."

Raymundo came to Ohio from Guatemala about a year ago and was living with friends and her boyfriend in a duplex on North Tuscarawas Ave.

Police describe them as a small, but "tight knit circle" with no evidence of criminal activity or suspicious behavior.

Raymundo's boyfriend doesn't speak English, but one of their friends, Juan Gonzales, was teary eyed as he spoke with Fox 8 News.

"It's hard, everybody's missing her," said Gonzales. "She's 4-months pregnant, she's pregnant, that's why we're worried for her."

He described Raymundo as quiet and said she'd never just disappear.

Police said they are working with Verizon Wireless to locate her cell. Initially the phone "pinged" on several towers "heading south," but police say it has not "pinged" since Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information should contact the Dover Police Department at 330-364-5533.
