Cops: Man takes a nap after shooting dead his elderly father

Son Kills His Own Father But Then Takes a Nap Before Calling 911, Police Say

A Florida man went to sleep after he fatally shot his elderly father, waiting until after he awoke to call the police, authorities said.

What had started as an all-day disagreement Friday between James Troy May and his 89-year-old father, Jack May, became deadly when the son pulled out a gun during an argument, officials said.

May, 52, allegedly told cops that his father had been complaining all day and eventually became violent.

It was at that point May allegedly said he grabbed a gun and shot his father, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said.

After shooting his father, May went to sleep, he allegedly told police.

He called 911 to report the shooting after he woke up, authorities said.
