Good Samaritans repair new mom's car
RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KOAT) -- Susan Burkholder and Shawn Mauldin are the proud new parents of a healthy baby boy.
The road to Burkholder's delivery was a bumpy one. She said she had been having contractions for three days. Her doctor told her walking might help speed up the delivery, so she followed her doctor's orders and went walking around Cottonwood Mall.

When she came out, her car was gone, along with her baby's car seat, bassinet and diaper bag. Burkholder was devastated, but had more important things to consider.
"I just completely didn't worry about anything. I just worried about getting him out," said Burkholder.
Police notified Burkholder that they found the car overnight, but the baby items were gone. The car also had significant damage and Burkholder doesn't know if she can drive it again.
The community has stepped up to help.
Strangers have started donating blankets, diapers and baby clothes to help. Local company Juice It Up is also collecting baby items.
Burkholder said she is grateful for the help.
"Thank you for all your support and being able to try and help us with getting our baby home," she said.
