MAC unveils its first lipstick of Selena collection
Anything for Selenas!
The people spoke and MAC Cosmetics delivered! More than 37,000 people signed a petition to influence the mega makeup line to create a Selena Quintanilla line to honor the late singer's beautiful bright, bold looks.
Fans everywhere are cheering what originally started as a petition started by radio talk show host Patty Rodriguez and a nation-wide hashtag campaign #SelenaQuintanillaForMAC, into a full makeup line expected to launch in October 2016.
The company announced on Tuesday it's first lipstick in the collection named, "Como La Flor" (Like a Flower) is modeled after one of the late singer's most popular -- and beloved songs.
"I wanted the colours to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage," said Suzette Quintanilla, the sister of the late singer.
The queen of Tex Mex's, "vivacious music and style lives on through the passion of her fans and her impact on Latin beauty and culture," she said in a Facebook post.
MAC worked in collaboration with Suzette Quintanilla to create the color palettes used in the products themselves, down to the bright purple lipstick packaging.
It's been 21 years since the Tejano singer was murdered by her then fan-club president Yolanda Saldíva but the entertainer's legacy lives on, often referenced as a symbol of an often silenced culture.
Bidi bidi bom bom, we can't wait until the full line drops.
