Hey, ice cream lovers: Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day is almost here

Attention ice cream lovers — isn't that everyone? — mark your calendar for April 12. Why? Because it's Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's!

From 12 to 8 pm on Tuesday, you can grab a free cone of your favorite ice cream flavor at any Ben & Jerry's scoop shop. If you can't narrow down your selection to just one flavor, no problem! There's no limit on how many free cones you get — at least on Ben & Jerry's end, but your stomach may feel differently.

"Just get back in line for another free cone. Over and over again. We're not counting. Really, go for it," says Ben & Jerry's.

Check out some of the most creative ice cream flavors in the world:

Free Cone Day is a 37-year tradition at the Vermont-based Ben & Jerry's. It started in 1979 as a way for the ice cream company to thank their customers. The event was a success and quickly grew from there. In 2015, Ben & Jerry's gave away more than 1 million scoops of ice cream at its scoop shops around the world.

"Free Cone Day is just another way for us to give back and celebrate the people in our communities who do good every day," Ben & Jerry's said.

The annual event allows the ice cream makers to highlight ways that they "pay it forward" on social issues — by working with other companies and groups that support fair trade, small-scale farmers, endangered species, cruelty-free animal husbandry and more.
