Way back during season 3 of American Idol, fans were introduced to a trio of singers known as "the three divas": Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer Hudson, and Latoya London.

Since then, all three have gone on to successful careers: Fantasia is a Grammy-winning artist, Hudson is an Oscar winner for her work in Dreamgirls, and London is a stage actress (fun fact: all three have appeared in The Color Purple).

When the three came together to reunite for the Idol finale earlier this week, Fantasia told Billboardshe was overwhelmed with emotion. "It brought back so many memories. Those girls are soulful girls, and to bless the stage with them again meant everything to me," she said.

The end of Idol, she said, was emotional for her to "link up and see where everybody is at and what they are doing. This is where it started. I am very proud of them and I thank God for American Idol, because it allowed us to be everything that we are today."

Fantasia gave a sneak peek of her new single during the finale with a performance of her new song, "Ugly." As for her full length album, the singer tells Billboard it's almost ready.

"She's coming," Fantasia said. "We've been working on her for a while. She's very special to me. I'm finally able to do what it is that I have always wanted to do -- great music."

"Ugly," a fusion of gospel and country, is now available on iTunes.
