She's been earning raves for her co-starring role in Broadway's "Eclipsed," about women held captive during wartime in Liberia.

But Lupita Nyong'o took a break from the Great White Way and headed to balmy Los Angeles to promote her other project, the animated "The Jungle Book."

Naturally, she killed it at the premiere, in J. Crew. We spoke to her longtime stylist, the lovely Micaela Erlanger, about Nyong'o's golden ensemble.

"It felt like this premiere was a perfect moment to do something custom with (J. Crew). (Creative director) Jenna Lyons and I sat down together and discussed ideas. There was something really interesting about wearing clothes on the red carpet that could also be worn off the carpet and interpreted and executed both ways. The overall look was one which was playful, glamorous and most of all, authentic," says Erlanger.

Nyong'o looked super-playful and chic. And yes, says Erlanger, that was totally by design.

"Most of all I want a client to feel happy and confident in what they have on. She exuded that," she says.

Of course, don't think Nyong'o totally played it cool. She can bring the bling with the best of them.

"I think pairing a glittery skirt with a knit sweater and denim jacket is a pretty combination. Mixing textures and elements brings dimension to the and we kept the vibe bright, happy and of course still glamorous," says Erlanger. "Fred Leighton jewels topped it all off!"
