Politico is reporting that Donald Trump's presidential campaign is reducing the role of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who is facing misdemeanor battery charges for grabbing a reporter. They report that the move is partly because of the natural growth of the campaign, but also because of "long-simmering concerns among some members of Trump's inner circle about Lewandowski's lack of national experience, his perceived unwillingness to challenge Trump and his brash temperament." Politico says that the campaign's newly named convention manager, Paul Manafort, is expected to take a leading role for the remaining primaries, and that the campaign's press office has already been overruling Lewandowski's decisions regarding press credentials in recent days. Trump himself has maintained a staunch public defense of his manager so far, and neither he nor his campaign responded to Politico's request for comment on the story.
